SAN DIEGO - The San Diego State women's tennis team is gearing up for its final home contest of the season as it is set to take on conference foe Fresno State this Thursday, April 13. The Aztecs will also celebrate Senior Day, honoring Kennedy Davis, Olivia Larsson and Taylor Lederman prior to the 2 p.m. start at the Aztec Tennis Center.
The Bulldogs travel to San Diego following their 4-3 conference win over San Jose State on Sunday. Fresno State's 12-7, 1-0 record puts them in second place in the Mountain West. The ‘Dogs have won eight of their last nine matches, including one win over a 38th-ranked Oregon team.
The Aztecs return to San Diego following a tough conference loss at Nevada (5-2) on Sunday. At Nevada, junior Paola Diaz notched a singles win for the Aztecs, going 6-4, 6-2 to defeat Adriana Gergelyova in the third seed, while freshman Mia Smith defeated Carlijn Ketting, 6-2, 6-4, on court five. The team enters Thursday's match looking to snap its six-match skid and improve its 5-15, 0-2 record.
Thursday's dual against the ‘Dogs is the second to last match on the Aztecs' schedule, as the team travels to San Jose State next Saturday, April 22, for the final regular match of the season. Following next weekend's dual, SDSU travels to Las Vegas, Nev., for the MW Championship tournament from Thursday, April 27, through Sunday, April 30.
