FLAGSTAFF, Ariz. - The San Diego State divers wrapped up competition at the Zone E Diving Championships on Wednesday and learned that junior Alexandra Caplan has qualified for next week's NCAA Championships on the 3-meter springboard.

Caplan will move on the NCAA met after placing sixth on the 3-meter board Monday afternoon. She finished with a point total of 606.90 over the prelims and finals, less than 14 points from the fourth-place score.

Caplan is the first Aztec diver to qualify for the NCAA Swimming and Diving Championships since 2012 when Kristen Meier and Anna Steiner represented San Diego State.

In action on Wednesday at the Zone E diving Championships, three SDSU divers were among the 37 athletes who competed on the platform.

The Aztecs' top finisher was junior Nicole Dutton, who placed 23rd with a score of 200.00 points. Fellow junior Payton Gabris captured 28th place with 178.05 points while freshman Marie Yacopino was 29th with a score of 175.75.

The 2017 NCAA Swimming & Diving Championships get underway on Wednesday, March 15, in Indianapolis, Ind. Competition on the 3-meter springboard is scheduled for Friday, March 17, with prelims set to get underway at 12:30 p.m. ET followed by the consolation finals. The championship finals in the event will be conducted that evening
