SAN DIEGO - The San Diego State women's tennis team ends the month of March with its first Mountain West Conference matchup this Friday when it takes on the UNLV Rebels at the Aztec Tennis Center. First serve is set for 10 a.m.
The Rebels (12-6, 2-0) own wins in their last two matches, defeating conference opponent Boise State, 6-1, as well as Southern Miss, 7-0, in a doubleheader at home on Saturday, March 25, but fell 6-1 to a 49th-ranked Arizona State team three days earlier. UNLV senior Carol Yang currently boasts a No. 27 singles ranking on the Oracle/ITA list.
The Aztecs have had a tough time securing wins this season, losing their last four matches to add up to a 5-13 record. Despite a team loss to the Tigers, junior Paola Diaz secured a win against Princeton in singles and took down nationally ranked opponents in doubles alongside teammate Jana Buth. Senior Kennedy Davis also claimed her fifth straight singles victory in last week's dual.
Friday's match is the last of a seven-match home stretch, as the team heads to Reno, Nev., in two weeks where it faces Nevada on Sunday, April 9, at 11 a.m.
