WHAT'S ON TAP THIS WEEKEND IN AZTEC BASEBALL
Following Tuesday's 2-0 loss at USC, San Diego State will now return to Mountain West action with a three-game series vs. San Jose State at home this weekend. The opening game of that set is scheduled for Friday, March 31, at 6:00 p.m. at Tony Gwynn Stadium. The Aztecs and Spartans will also meet up for games on Saturday (April 1) and Sunday (April 2) at 2:00 p.m. and 1:00 p.m. PT respectively.

AZTECS ON THE AIR
Friday's game against San Jose State will be streamed live on the Mountain Digital Network. Saturday's and Sunday's contests will be broadcast on 1700 AM radio in San Diego. In addition, live stats will also be available for all three contests vs. SJSU. Links for the video and radio broadcasts as well as live stats will be on the SDSU web site.

SERIES RECORD
The Aztecs have a record of 65-30 against San Jose State in a series that began in 1938. Last season the Aztecs won the lone weekend series between the teams, taking two of three contests in San Jose in mid-May. SDSU also defeated the Spartans in the opening game of the Mountain West Tournament by a score of 7-3. SDSU is 13-4 vs. SJSU since the Spartans joined the Mountain West for the 2014 season. The Aztecs are 35-12 vs. San Jose State in San Diego, 26-18 in San Jose and 4-0 at neutral sites.

PLAYER OF THE WEEK (AGAIN)
Outfielder Tyler Adkison made it back-to-back Mountain West Player of the Week awards when he earned the honor for games played March 20-26. Over last week's four games, Adkison (Culver City, Calif., Mater Dei HS) hit .538 with a triple, home run, seven walks and seven RBI. He compiled a 1.048 slugging percentage and a .700 on-base mark.

PITCHER OF THE WEEK
Senior lefty Brett Seeburger earned his first conference Pitcher of the Week award for his performance in the second game of Saturday's (March 25) doubleheader at Fresno State. In that contest, he tossed a one hit shutout over eight innings, allowing just an infield single and facing one batter over the minimum. Seeburger retired the first 14 batters he faced before allowing a two-out infield single in the bottom of the fifth inning. He went on to retire the next 10 batters through the eighth inning. Over his eight innings of work, he struck out a season-high seven batters and did not allow a walk, while throwing 97 pitches. For his effort Seeburger was also selected a National Player of the Week by Collegiate Baseball and the Madness Mountain West Baseball Player of the Week by CollegeSportsMadness.com.

TREJO COMING ON
Second baseman Alan Trejo is currently on a 15-game hitting streak during which he is batting .342 (26-for-76) with six doubles, three home runs, 10 RBI and 17 runs scored. He had a string of scoring at least once in 11 consecutive games end in the loss at USC on Tuesday (March 28). He has now done so in 14 of the last 16 contests.

BROWN STAYS CONSISTENT
Third baseman Andrew Brown continues to be one of the Aztecs' most consistent hitters. Over the past 11 games he is hitting .412 (21-for-51) with two doubles, seven RBI and 10 runs scored. Brown leads the squad with 40 hits. He is second on the team in RBI with 17 and in doubles with six.

ADKISON ON FIRE
Outfielder Tyler Adkison is hitting .585 (24-for-41) over SDSU's last 11 games with four doubles, a triple, six home runs, 23 RBI and 16 runs scored. His slugging percentage over that span in 1.171 and he has a .667 on-base mark in those games. Entering the week, he led NCAA Division I in batting average (.537), slugging percentage (1.074) and on-base percentage (.623). Adkison set an SDSU record by reaching base 15 consecutive times (via either a hit or walk) from March 18 to March 25. In those four games, he had four singles, three doubles, a triple, 2 HR and five walks. His 10 consecutive hits over that span was also a new SDSU record.

SHEEHAN HITS AWAY
After redshirting during the 2016 season, senior Danny Sheehan has returned for his final year and claimed the starting shortstop role he held in 2015. He is currently on a 10-game hitting streak during which he has gone 15-for-37 (.405) with five doubles, six RBI and nine runs scored. Sheehan has been hit by pitch eight times this season to bring his career total to 21. That ranks 11th on the SDSU all-time top 20 in that category.

PITCHING DOMINATES
Over the past 17 games, the SDSU pitching staff has posted a 12-5 record with a 2.87 earned run average. Opponents have hit .252 over those 17 contests. Included in that run are three shutout victories and three one-run wins. The Aztecs recorded only one shutout during the 2016 season.

STREAKS
Alan Trejo has the current longest hitting streak for the Aztecs at 16 games. Danny Sheehan has a 10-game streak in progress. Trejo has reached base safely (via hit, walk or hit by pitch) in the past 16 games with Jordan Verdon next at 12 in a row. Andrew Brown has recorded a team-leading 14 multiple-hit contests with Trejo and Adkison second at nine. Adkison leads the team with seven multiple-RBI games with Verdon right behind him with six.

AZTEC NOTES
After opening the season with a 3-4 record, San Diego State is 13-5 in its last 18 contests … Over the last 10 contests, the Aztecs are hitting .339 to .262 by opponent. They also have a team ERA of 3.92 while opponents' ERA is 6.62 … SDSU has committed 16 errors in its first 25 contests for a .983 fielding percentage. The team record for fielding percentage in a season is .978 set during the 2013 campaign … Logan Boyer has allowed no runs on just two hits with 10 strikeouts over his last seven relief appearances (9.1 innings) … Junior Jorge Fernandez has made two starts and five relief appearances this season and has yet to allow a run in his 14.1 innings pitched … Tyler Adkison is hitting .591 (13-for-22) with runners in scoring position while Danny Sheehan's average in that situation is .500 (11-for-22) … Aztec pinch hitters are batting .217 (5-for-23) with one hit each by Tyler Adkison, Chad Bible, Chase Calabuig, Julian Escobedo and Hunter Stratton. Opponent pinch hitters have a .091 average (3-for-33) … Junior David Hensley's 16 career sacrifice bunts tie him for 20th on the SDSU career top 20 in that category … Sophomore Jordan Verdon's nine career sacrifice flies tie him for 20th on the SDSU career top20 list … Hensley has hit safely in each of the past six contests, going 8-for-22 (.364) with a double, RBI and two runs scored.
