Aztecs Head to Colorado State
The San Diego State softball team hits the road for the first time during Mountain West play with a weekend series at Colorado State.

The Aztecs (17-11, 1-2 MW), who have won a league-record seven regular-season MW titles, will play the Rams (13-9, 1-2 MW) at 4 p.m. MT Friday, 1 p.m. MT Saturday and noon MT Sunday.

SDSU has advanced to eight NCAA tournaments in the last nine years, nine of the past 11 and 11 of the past 16.

Of San Diego State's 11 losses this year, four have come against the top 25 (1-4) and nine vs. teams that made the 2016 NCAA tournament (8-9).

The Aztecs are currently on pace to break school single-season records in average (.348), on-base percentage (.405) and slugging percentage (.499), and are ranked ninth in the country in average and 25th in runs per game (6.18).

SDSU has six players batting over .350, led by Molly Sturdivant (Santa Ana, Calif.). The sophomore third baseman leads San Diego State in batting average (.427), doubles (9, tied), home runs (7, tied), slugging percentage (.827), walks (13) and on-base percentage (.500). Junior Taylor Stewart (Bellflower, Calif.) is hitting .385 with 10 RBIs and 12 walks for a .468 on-base mark, while junior Jenavee Peres (Garden Grove, Calif.) (.372, 7 HR, 29 RBI, 27 R) and sophomore Katie Byrd (Santee, Calif./West Hills HS) (.372, 2 HR, 15 RBI, 24 R, 9 2B) are each batting .372. Senior Sydnee Cable (Huntington Beach, Calif.) his hitting .369 with 28 RBIs (second on the team) and junior Zaria Meshack (Vallejo, Calif.) is at .359.

The Aztec pitching staff has combined for a 3.58 ERA this year, led by freshman Marissa Moreno (Torrance, Calif.), who is 6-4 with a 3.32 ERA in 52 2/3 innings. Senior Erica Romero (Corona, Calif.) (5-3, 3.41 ERA, 53.1 IP), sophomore Julie McDonald (Carlsbad, Calif./Carlsbad HS) (2-2, 3.53 ERA, 37.2 IP) and junior Alex Formby (Orange, Calif.) (4-2, 4.13 ERA, 42.1 IP) have also added to the staff.
