UNLV and San Diego State will conclude their three-game set today at 1:00 p.m. at Tony Gwynn Stadium with both sides looking to win the series after splitting the first two contests. The winner will move into second place in the Mountain West standings after the opening three weeks of conference play.
The Rebels captured the opening contest between the teams on Friday with a 5-3 victory with SDSU winning Saturday's tilt by the score of 10-5.
UNLV enters the day with an overall record of 10-10 and it is 5-3 in league play. The Rebels are expected to start left-hander Garrett Poole (2-1. 3.38).
The Aztecs, meanwhile, will send senior right-hander Cody Thompson (0-0, 3.52) to the mound to open this afternoon's contest.
San Diego State comes into today's game with a record of 12-7 overall and 3-2 in conference action.
The Aztecs are led at the plate by outfielder Tyler Adkison, who is hitting .486 after recording three hits in yesterday's game including his team-leading fifth home run of the season.
Chase Calabuig also broke out in Saturday's victory, connecting for a pair of doubles and a triple while Alan Trejo also had three hits in the contest.
San Diego State will wrap up its current four-game home stand with a contest against Long Beach State on Tuesday, March 21, at 6:00 p.m. at Tony Gwynn Stadium.
