The Aztecs split squads on Sat., March 18, with a group heading to the UC Irvine Spring Break Collegiate Classic and another group staying local at the Ross and Sharon Irwin Collegiate at Point Loma Nazarene University.
At the UC Irvine Spring Break Collegiate Classic, SDSU will compete against UC San Diego, Cal State Dominguez Hills and Point Loma Nazarene.
The Scarlet and Black will send 20 athletes to the meet in Orange County. Competing in multiple individual events for the Aztecs are Lisa-Anne Barrow (200, long jump), Sierra Brabham-Lawrence (200, 100 hurdles), Starlynn Singleton (200, long jump), Tyra Lea (200, 400), Cindy Flores (800, 1,500), Madison Gipson (100 hurdles, 400 hurdles), Kassidy Ellis (high jump, long jump) and Rachel Alesi (shot put, discus). Also competing are Andrenette Knight (200), Angela Wilson (800), Monique McPherson (800), Lakin Hatcher (200), Simone Glenn (400), Rochene Smith (400), Jasmine Young (400 hurdles), Hannah Taylor (high jump), Anushi Desai (discus), Kira Moreland (long jump) and Je'Neal Ainsworth (triple jump). The Aztecs will send two 4x100-meter relay teams to the meet: one team comprised on Micha Auzenne, Glenn, Smith and Singleton, and one team made up of Moreland, Hatcher, Lea and Barrow.
The Aztecs begin the meet at 10 a.m. with the shot put and long jump. At 12:10 p.m., SDSU will have two teams run the 4x100-meter relay. At 12:35 p.m., Flores runs the 1,500, while the high jump, discus and triple jump will occur at 1 p.m. The 100-meter hurdles is on tap for 1:05 p.m., followed by the 400 at 1:25 p.m. The 100-meter dash is at 1:45 p.m. and the 800 is slated for 2:15 p.m. The 400-meter hurdles are listed at 2:50 p.m., with the 200 closing out the Aztecs' day at 3:20 p.m.
San Diego State's pole vaulters (Marissa Berry, Rachel Craft, Sara Curran, Bonnie Draxler, Katherine Magill and Taylor Alexander), Alexis Williams (shot put, discus), Freja Liljedahl (hammer throw) and Melody Harris (javelin) will compete at the Ross and Sharon Irwin Collegiate Invitational. The meet opens at 9 a.m. with the javelin and hammer throws. The shot put will happen at noon, while the pole vault is slated for 1 p.m. The meet closes at 2:45 p.m. with the discus.
