SAN DIEGO - San Diego State will step away from its regular-season schedule and play an exhibition on Thursday afternoon vs. Chengdu University, which is located in China. First sprint is scheduled for 3 p.m. PT at Aztec Aquaplex. Admission is free.

SDSU is coming off a weekend in Orange County where it competed at Barbara Kalbus Invitational, hosted by UC Irvine. The Aztecs posted an uneven 1-3 record at the three-day event, losing to UCI, UC San Diego and Long Beach State, while picking up a victory over Golden Coast Conference foe Loyola Marymount.

San Diego State will use the exhibition as preparation for its own tournament, the Aztec Invitational, which is slated for March 11-12. The Aztecs will face San José State and Chapman on March 11 before playing host to Indiana and Bucknell on March 12. A contest vs. UC Irvine on March 16 will wrap up a five-game regular-season homestand before hitting the road for eight straight.

The Aztecs are 5-7 on the season, but 1-0 in the GCC, a league they have won three consecutive seasons while never dropping a conference game in 20 tries. San Diego State is also the reigning Golden Coast tournament champion after they won the event in 2016 and earned the league’s automatic bid to the NCAA Championship.
