Darkness Suspends Day One for W. Golf at Bruin Wave Invite

SAN LUIS OBISPO, Calif. ââ'¬" The San Diego State women's golf team sits in ninth place at the Bruin Wave Invitational after the second round was suspended on Monday due to darkness. Play will resume on Tuesday at 8 a.m. PT to be followed immediately by the final round on the par-73, 6,357-yard San Luis Obispo Country Club.

The Aztecs find themselves at 36-over for the tournament thus far, trailing co-host Pepperdine (+31) by five shots for eighth, while Washington (+29) shares the fifth position along with California and the Stanford 'B' squad.

Individually, SDSU has been led by Sirene Blair, who remains tied for 18th on the leaderboard with six holes remaining in the second round. Despite a steady diet of 14 pars in the opening round, the Aztec senior settled for a 77, unable ease the sting of four bogeys. However, the three-time all-MW performer managed to climb 10 spots on the leaders in the afternoon, thanks in part to a pair of birdies on the par-5 No. 7 and the par-3 14th.

Elsewhere, Georgia Lacey is among a pack of seven golfers tied for 30th at 9-over. The SDSU junior matched Blair with a 77 in the morning, but was unable to keep pace in the second round after suffering four bogeys and a double on her first 10 holes.

The Aztec contingent also features freshman Fernanda Escauriza, who occupies the 42nd spot at 12-over, while senior Natalie Vivaldi and junior Haleigh Krause are one shot behind in a tie for 49th at 13-over.

The Stanford 'A' team (+9) opened up a hefty 13-stroke advantage over UCLA (+22) before dusk settled in on the Central Coast, while USC (+25) sits in third, followed by Colorado (+28).

UCLA's Lilia Vu (-2) owns a slim one-shot advantage over Pepperdine's Momoka Kabori (-1), while Cal State Fullerton's Martina Edberg (E) is tied for third with Stanford's Albane Valenzuela and Jisoo Keel.
