SAN DIEGO - San Diego State continues action at the 2017 Tony Gwynn Classic with contests against Seton Hall and Notre Dame today at Tony Gwynn Stadium.
The Aztecs will face Seton Hall in their opening contest of the day with first pitch set for 2:00 p.m. SDSU will then take on the Fighting Irish of Notre Dame in a game slated to get underway at 6:00 p.m. this evening.
Seton Hall comes into the day with a record of 2-3. The Pirates are expected to start right-hander Zach Prendergast (0-0, 9.00) on the mound where he will face San Diego State sophomore Harrison Pyatt (0-1, 9.00).
Notre Dame, meanwhile, enters the day with a record of 1-5 after tournament losses to UC Irvine and University of San Diego.
Notre Dame's starting hurler tonight will be right-hander Peter Solomon (1-0, 1.50). The Aztecs will counter with senior lefty Dominic Purpura (1-0, 0.00).
After last night's loss to Tennessee, San Diego State finds itself with a 3-3 record heading into today's split doubleheader. After six contests this season, the Aztecs are hitting .288 with a 4.08 team earned run average.
Outfielder David Hensley leads the SDU hitters with a .462 batting average. Shortstop Danny Sheehan tops the squad with eight hits and eight RBI and is batting .333.
Following today's games, San Diego State will prepare for a trip north on Tuesday, Feb. 28, when they will face Long Beach State at 6:00 p.m. at Blair Field.
