On the heels of a record-setting meet at the Don Kirby Elite Invitational in Albuquerque Feb. 10-11, the San Diego State track and field team will compete at the Mountain West Indoor Championships Thurs., Feb. 23 through Sat., Feb. 25. The conference meet is hosted by New Mexico at Albuquerque Convention Center.
The Aztecs are vying for their second MW indoor title in five years (also 2013), fourth overall since 2013 (also 2013-14 outdoor) and fifth in program history (also 2003 outdoor).
SDSU will send 20 athletes to the conference meet, with 11 Aztecs competing in multiple events:
Long Jump - Lisa-Anne Barrow, Jelena McNown, Kira Moreland, Starlynn Singleton
Triple Jump - Je'Neal Ainsworth

Distance Medley - Cindy Flores, Lakin Hatcher, Monique McPherson, Elaine RibeiroSDSU's first event of the meet is the distance medley, set for 4:20 p.m. on Thursday.
On Friday, the day starts with the long jump at 1 p.m., followed by the pole vault at 2 p.m. The qualifying rounds of the 60 hurdles, 400, 60-meter dash, 800 and 200 are on Saturday, beginning with the 60-meter hurdles at 2:15 p.m. The 400 meters is slated for 2:45 p.m., and the 60-meter dash is on tap for 3:15 p.m. The 800 will take place at 3:45 p.m., and the Aztecs' day closes with the 200 meters at 4:15 p.m.
Saturday kicks off with the shot put at 10 a.m., and the next event will be the triple jump at 11:30 a.m. The finals of the 60 hurdles, 400, 60-meter dash, 800 and 200 will occur is 20-minute increments, starting with the 60-meter hurdles at 12:30 p.m. SDSU closes the meet with the 4x400-meter relay at 2:45 p.m. The awards ceremony will immediately follow completion of the events.

The MW Track and Field Indoor Track Athlete of the Week for Jan. 24, Auzenne narrowly set the program record in the 60-meter dash in the second day of the Don Kirby Elite Invitational with her 7.31 time. Her previous record was 7.32, set at the 2016 Mountain West Championships. Auzenne won the 60-meter dash at the Cherry and Silver Invitational, finished second in the 60-meter hurdles at that meet, and was second in the 60 and third in the 200 at the UW Invitational. She has PRs this season in the 60, 60-meter hurdles and the 200.
In the first day of the Don Kirby Elite Invitational, Henderson finished third in the 200, crossing the finish line in 23.40, just 0.04 second faster than her own school record in the event, which she set at the 2016 Mountain West Indoor Championships. Her time is also the fastest in the Mountain West this year. She won the 60-meter dash and the 200 at the UW Invitational, finishing second in the event a week prior at the Cherry and Silver Invitational. She has set PRs in the 60-meter dash and the 200.
The Aztecs' 4x400-meter relay team set the San Diego State record and ran the best time in the conference this season in their third-place finish at the Don Kirby Elite Invitational. Anchored by Lea, Glenn, McPherson and Knight ran the event in 3:40.18 to finish third. They broke the school record by 1.37 seconds, previously set by Nicole Stone, Sherraine Pencil, Priscilla Chapu and Mandy Upuu in 2007.
This season, Singleton set PRs in the 60-meter dash, the 200 and the long jump. She won the long jump at the UW Invitational and recorded the eighth-best mark in program history at the Don Kirby Elite Invitational (19-02.75).
Newcomers McPherson, Knight, Wilson and Smith have been a boon for the Scarlet and Black this season. In addition to McPherson's and Knight's contributions to the 4x400-meter relay, Knight ran the No. 4 all-time 400 at the Don Kirby Elite Invitational (54.42).
