SAN DIEGO - The San Diego State softball team plays host to Siena at 6 p.m. PT Tuesday. The Aztecs enter the Tuesday non-conference game with a 3-4 record, while the Saints are 0-5.
SDSU is coming off a 1-1 week, beating UC Riverside, 3-0, on Thursday before losing later in the night to No. 8/9 Washington, 6-5. The rest of the 27th Campbell/Cartier Classic (Friday through Sunday) was rained out.
After two weeks of play, San Diego State leads the Mountain West with a .345 batting average, and is ranked third in fielding percentage (.981) and is eighth in ERA (3.87). Molly Sturdivant leads the way with a .556 average (5-for-9) and a .636 on-base percentage in three games. Katie Byrd (Santee, Calif./West Hills HS) is hitting .550 with seven runs, seven RBIs and a .609 on-base percentage in seven starts, while Frankie Orlando (.455), Kiera Wright (.423), Taylor Stewart (.417) and Jenavee Peres (.400) are also batting .400 or better for the Aztecs.
Julie McDonald (Carlsbad, Calif./Carlsbad HS) leads the SDSU pitching staff, posting a 1-0 record with a save and a 2.37 ERA in 20 2/3 innings. Erica Romero is 1-1 with a 3.28 ERA in 10 2/3 innings, while Marissa Moreno made her debut Thursday night vs. the No. 8/9 Huskies and allowed four runs on nine hits in seven innings of work. Alex Formby also has pitched for San Diego State, going 1-2 with an 8.08 ERA in 8 2/3 innings.
Siena is batting .237 through five games with a 6.12 ERA and a .921 fielding percentage. Jazmin Ortiz leads the Saints with a .385 average to go along with two home runs, while Madysen Cossack and Patricia Kalesse are each batting .333. Brooke Hughes leads the pitching staff with a 4.38 ERA in eight innings, while Lauren Butts (0-2, 6.24 ERA) has logged the most innings (12.1).

The Aztecs head to the competitive Mary Nutter Collegiate Classic over the weekend, highlighted by games against nationally ranked Florida State (8:30 p.m. PT Friday) and Utah (11:30 a.m. PT Sunday).
