SAN DIEGO -

Weekly Release

San Diego State will look to avenge a 1-point overtime loss to San José State earlier in the season when it kicks off the second half of Mountain West play by hosting the Spartans on Weds., Feb. 8 at 6:30 p.m. Chris Ello will provide the play-by-play for a live stream on the Mountain West Network.

Despite playing solid defense for the final three quarters, it wasn't enough for the Aztecs, who dropped their fourth-straight Mountain West game to Fresno State, 59-51, at Viejas Arena on Sat., Feb. 4. For the 13th game this season, junior McKynzie Fort was SDSU's top point-getter with 14 points to go alongside three rebounds and assists each. Classmate Khalia Lark grabbed a team-high five boards, recording eight points.

San José State (7-15, 4-6 MW) has faltered as of late, losing four of its last five games, with its lone win in that time going down as a 76-65 win at UNLV. The Spartans top the league with 70.5 points per game, due in large part to its success from 3-point range. They lead the league in 3-pointers per game (8.0) to rank 30th nationally. The 2016 Mountain West Newcomer of the Year, Dezz Ramos has been one of the league's top threats this season. Ramos leads the conference and is 10th nationally with 21.7 points per game. In SJSU's most recent game against New Mexico, she reached the 1,000-point plateau at San José State in her 51st game as a Spartan, the fastest to reach 1,000 points in program history.

SDSU and San José State will meet for the 27th time. The Scarlet and Black holds a dominating 11-1 mark over the Spartans at Viejas Arena. Wednesday night's match-up features the conference's top two point-getters. San José State senior Dezz Ramos leads the league with 21.7 points per game, while Aztec junior McKynzie Fort sits second at 16.3 points per game. Since the start of conference play, SDSU and SJSU are two premiere teams from beyond the arc. The Spartans top the field with 8.4 3-pointers per MW game, while the Aztecs rank third with 7.7 treys per conference contest.

Following its game against SJSU, San Diego State visits Nevada on Sat., Feb. 11 for a 4 p.m. contest.
