The 2017 San Diego State baseball team will hold its First Pitch Luncheon on Saturday, Feb. 4, in the Parma Payne Goodall Alumni Association Ballroom adjacent to the Fowler Athletics Center on campus. Registration for the event begins at 12:30 p.m. with the program set to commence at 1:00 p.m.
In addition to the SDSU coaching staff and selected players, former Aztecs Bud Black (manager of the Colorado Rockies) and Stephen Strasburg (pitcher for the Washington Nationals) will also be in attendance.
Cost of the luncheon is $30 per person and includes the luncheon along with a ticket to the Aztecs 2017 opening night contest against Pacific on Friday, Feb. 17 at 6:00 p.m. Following the luncheon, fans are invited to attend the team practice session at Tony Gwynn Stadium.
San Diego State returns 18 letterwinners including seven starting position players and eight pitchers from last year's squad. Joining the team this season are nine freshman, four junior college athletes and a four-year transfer. Included in that group are three all-state honorees, a junior college national team member and one player drafted by Houston last June along with several all-league and all-district selections
