For the second straight day the San Diego State diving team had a pair of top 10 finishers, this time on the platform, in action at the UCLA Diving Invitational at the Spieker Aquatics Center in Los Angeles.

Junior Alexandra Caplan captured eighth place with a total score of 429.95. She was in seventh spot after the preliminary round of six dives with a mark of 225.40, but a score of 204.55 in the finals dropped her one place in the final standings.

Makena Chamoures was the Aztecs' other top 10 finishers as her total of 428.30 found her right behind Caplan in ninth place. She found herself in 10th at the end of the prelims with a score of 210.30, but moved up after her finals mark of 228.30 gave her ninth place.

Three other Aztec divers were among the initial field of 31, but none were able to advance to the final round of 12 competitors.

That trio (with their prelim score and standing) included Nicole Dutton (194.65 – 16th), Payton Gabris (191.30 - 18th) and Delaney Gallagher (147.15 – 29th).

Action at the UCLA Diving Invitational concludes on Sunday (Jan. 15) with competition on the 1-meter board. Prelims for that event will get underway 10:30 a.m. with finals scheduled to start at 12w:30 p.m.
