SAN DIEGO -

Weekly Release

San Diego State will attempt to continue its hot play from beyond the 3-point arc at Mountain West foe Utah State with a Saturday matinee on Jan. 14. Tip is set for 2 p.m. MT. Chris Ello will call the play-by-play action for live audio on GoAztecs.com, while the game will be streamed on the Mountain West Network.

Most recently, SDSU (7-8, 2-2 MW) battled Mountain West foe San Jose State to the final second but ultimately fell in a heartbreaking 81-80 overtime loss to the Spartans Wednesday night. With five-tenths of a second on the clock in overtime, the Mountain West's leading scorer Dezz Ramos knocked down a jumper from the left corner of the key for the 81-80 game-winner.

McKynzie Fort, who notched her second-career double-double against SJSU, became the 21st member of the program's 1,000-point club during the game as she matched career-highs with 29 points and 11 rebounds. Fort is just the eighth Aztec to get to 1,000 points in fewer than four seasons, and is the only true junior in the Mountain West to get to 1,000 career points this season.

A huge part of the Aztecs' success in the early going has been its play from beyond the 3-point arc. Against San Jose State, the Aztecs drilled a season-high 12 3-pointers, their third straight game with 10-or-more threes. Versus Boise State, SDSU knocked down 11 3-pointers, five of which came in the fourth quarter after getting 10 against the Wolf Pack. SDSU is the only team in the conference to score double-digit threes in three straight Mountain West games.

Utah State (8-8, 1-4 MW) boasts the youngest starting lineup in the country, with four of its five starting five in their freshman season. A member of the Mountain West All-Freshman Team last season, Rachel Brewster leads the team offensively with 11.8 points per game. Meanwhile, team-leading rebounder (9.4 per game) Shannon Dufficy is coming off of her third double-double of the season with 12 points and 16 rebounds in a loss to Wyoming on Wednesday. Her double-double was the team's fourth in its last seven games.

Following this road stretch, San Diego State returns home to host UNLV on Weds., Jan. 18 at 6:30 p.m.
