CHICAGO - Téa Adams and Kiara Edwards, a pair of San Diego State women's basketball National-Letter-of-Intent signees for the 2017-18 season, have been nominated to play in the 2017 McDonald's All-American Games.
In its 16th iteration for female high school seniors, the McDonald's All-American Games are on March 29 at the United Center in Chicago. The final rosters of 24 boys and 24 girls will be released on Jan. 15 at 9:30 p.m. (CST) on the McDonald's All-American Games Selection Show, broadcast live on ESPNU.
Adams, a three-star recruit according to ESPN who was given a scouts grade of 90, is averaging 22.1 points per game in 13 games at Juanita High School in Kirkland, Wash. She has scored 30-or-more points in four of Juanita's 13 games this season, getting a career-high 36 points with seven 3-pointers against Edmonds-Woodway on Dec. 5.
This is the fourth-straight season Adams has led her team in scoring. She is a three-time All-KingCo 2A/3A First Team and a two-time All-USA Western Washington Preseason Girls Basketball honoree, earning Co-MVP and Defensive Player of the Year honors as a sophomore.
Edwards has 13.7 points and a team-high 6.7 rebounds per game for Valley Vista High School in Surprise, Ariz. Valley Vista High, ranked seventh in the state, is 11-5 this season.
Ranked No. 119 by Prospects Nation, the four-star recruit earned an invitation to the 2016 USA Basketball Women's U17 World Championship team trials last May. She was named a 2014 Sports360AZ All-Academic Girls Basketball Team honorable mention, and was the 2015 and 2016 All-West Valley Preps Girls Basketball Player of the Year runner-up and a First Team honoree.
Adams and Edwards are two of five student-athletes who have signed National-Letters-of-Intent to join the Aztecs next season. The 46th-ranked recruiting class in the country according to Blue Star Basketball, Adams and Edwards will be joined next season by Jenay Borjorquez, Najé Murray and Kennedi Villa, each of whom earned three-or-more stars during the recruiting process.
In possession of its best record to start conference play since the 2012-13 season, San Diego State will go for its sixth win in seven games when it travels to Northern California for a midweek matchup at San José State. Tip is set for tonight at 7 p.m.
