SAN DIEGO - San Diego State Director of Athletics Jim Sterk and Aztec Football head coach Rocky Long will visit the Lone Star State on Tues., June 14. The duo is scheduled to appear for an Aztec Caravan in Dallas at the Bent Tree Country Club, beginning at 5:30 p.m.

Both Long and Sterk were honored for outstanding achievements during the 2015-16 school year. Long was the 2015 Mountain West Coach of the Year, while Sterk was named a 2015-16 Under Armour Athletic Director of the Year by the National Association of Collegiate Directors of Athletics (NACDA).

In addition to his AD of the Year honor, Sterk was recently named to the NCAA Division I Men's Basketball Committee and will begin his five-year appointment in September. Since his tenure at SDSU began in February of 2010, 56 San Diego State teams have advanced to NCAA postseason play, with 18 top-25 finishes and six teams finishing in the top 10.

The Aztecs have claimed 32 team conference titles since the beginning of the 2012-13 academic year. This season, the Scarlet and Black has won outright conference titles in football, women's soccer, men's basketball and water polo (regular season and tournament).

San Diego State remains one of the top football and men's basketball programs nationally, posting the third-highest combined winning percentage this decade (trailing only Ohio State and Louisville).

In April, 314 Aztec student-athletes were recognized as scholar-athletes (for a 3.2 semester grade-point average or a 3.0 cumulative GPA). Of the 19 programs, 18 have posted their highest GPA during Sterk's tenure.

The San Diego State athletic department is coming off of a record fundraising year in which the department raised $5.2 million toward the scholarship fund, more than $16 million for the Coryell Legacy, an initiative to endow scholarships and completed funding for the $15.8 million Jeff Jacobs JAM Center basketball facility.

The league's winningest head coach, Long earned his third MW Coach-of-the-Year honor after leading SDSU to the program's 20th conference title. After opening the 2015 season with a 1-3 mark, SDSU ran the gamut with 10 straight wins and a blemish-free 8-0 mark against MW opponents.

San Diego State earned its second Mountain West title since 2012 and its first outright league championship since 1969, matching a school record with their first 11-win campaign since 1969. In addition to winning the program's 20th conference title, the football team won its final 10 games (second-longest active win streak to Alabama) on its way to claiming the Hawai'i Bowl championship, its sixth consecutive bowl game appearance.
