San Diego State Heads to San José State for Weekend Series
The San Diego State softball team heads to San Jose, Calif., for a weekend series at San José State. The Aztecs (22-18, 4-8 MW) will meet the Spartans (18-19, 7-2 MW) at noon PT Friday, noon PT Saturday and noon PT Sunday. The first two games (Friday and Saturday) will be broadcast on the Mountain West Network.

SDSU is coming 2-1 series loss against Colorado State at SDSU Softball Stadium.

San Diego State is hitting .292 as a team with 18 home runs, 31 stolen bases and 179 runs in 40 games (4.48 runs per game). Sophomore Jenavee Peres (Garden Grove, Calif.) continues to lead the Aztecs in four offensive categories, despite missing 16 of the team's 40 games with injuries, including batting average (.438), home runs (7), slugging percentage (.844) and on-base percentage (.513). Sophomore Zaria Meshack (Vallejo, Calif.) is hitting .396, which ranks sixth in school single-season history (min. 100 AB), with team highs of 23 runs and 12 stolen bases, while senior Samantha Camello (Temecula, Calif.) (.341, 21 R, 18 RBI) is also hitting over .300 for SDSU. Freshman Molly Sturdivant (Santa Ana, Calif.) (.299, 4 HR, 21 RBI) is tied for the team lead in RBIs (21) and junior Jaylene Ignacio (Oceanside, Calif./El Camino HS) (.296, 5 HR, 20 RBI) leads the team in walks (16).

San Diego State has used a balanced pitching staff so far, combining for a 3.62 team ERA from freshman Julie McDonald (Carlsbad, Calif./Carlsbad HS) (2-1, 3.45 ERA, 42.2 IP), junior Erica Romero (Corona, Calif.) (10-8, 3.45 ERA, 107.2 IP), junior Ashley Ercolano (Poway, Calif./Poway HS) (1-2, 3.60 ERA, 35.0 IP) and sophomore Alex Formby (Orange, Calif.) (9-7, 3.98 ERA, 77.1 IP).
