SAN DEGO, Calif. - San Diego State will meet Bryant for the first time ever on the baseball field this evening when the teams square off at the 2016 Tony Gwynn Classic.

The Bulldogs come into the weekend having won each of their first four games of the season. They will send sophomore right-hander James Karinchak (1-0, 0.00) to the mound.

After posting their first victory of the season at UC Irvine on Tuesday, the Aztecs (1-4) dropped a 9-6 decision to the University of San Diego in Lake Elsinore last night.

SDSU has named junior left-hander Marcus Reyes (0-0, 2.57) as its starting pitcher to face the Bulldogs tonight.

Justin Wylie continues to lead the Aztecs at the plate with a .400 batting average along with two doubles and four runs batted in. Sophomore infielder David Hensley has also been hot at the plate for SDSU with a .368 average, three doubles and three RBI.

SDDSU's next game will be at 6:00 p.m. Saturday evening (Feb. 27) at Tony Gwynn Stadium. The opponent will be either Kentucky or UC Santa Barbara pending the outcome of tonight's contest vs. Bryant.
