THIS WEEK IN AZTEC SWIMMING
The San Diego State swimmers and divers will compete at two meets this week, both at UC San Diego's Canyonview Aquatic Center in La Jolla, Calif. There is no charge for admission or parking at either meet.

On Monday, Jan. 2, the Aztecs will compete in the UCSD Invitational against San Jose State, Boise State, Incarnate Word, Air Force and UC San Diego starting at 2:00 p.m. The meet will consist of eight swimming events (800 medley relay, 100 fly, 100 back, 500 free, 100 breast, 100 free, 200 IM, 200 free relay) along with both the 1-meter and 3-meter diving.

On Tuesday, Jan. 3, SDSU will participate in a double dual meet against Rice and San Jose State beginning at noon. UC San Diego will also compete, but will not score against the Aztecs as the two teams met earlier this season. The meet will include 14 standard swimming events along with both diving competitions.

LAST TIME OUT
The Aztecs improved to 7-0 on the season when they defeated Pepperdine, 133-114, in a dual meet at the Aztec Aquaplex on Dec. 2. Freshman McKenna Meyer won three individual races (200 fly - 2:07.70; 200 back - 2:07.80; 200 breast - 2:27.40) and was a member of the winning 200 free relay squad. Summer Harrison also captured three individual events, winning the 50 free (23.90), 100 free (52.20) and 200 individual medley (2:11.20).

FRESHMEN ENTER SDSU TOP 10 LISTS
Two Aztec freshmen have entered their names in the SDSU all-time top 10 times list for their events. McKenna Meyer is now included among the top 10 for her times in the 1000 free (10:10.91 - 8th), 1650 free (17:00.56 - 10th), 200 individual medley (2:04.15 - 10th) and 400 individual medley (4:22.03 - 8th). Morganne McKennan's time of 2:18.95 in the 200 breaststroke ranks ninth in program history. In addition to that duo, junior diver Nicole Dutton recorded the seventh-best mark on the 1-meter springboard with a score of 279.95 this season.

AZTEC AQUAPLEX TOP TENS
Three individual times have been recorded by SDSU swimmers this season that rank among the all-time top 10 at the Aztec Aquaplex. McKenna Meyer had the fourth-fastest mark in the 1000 freestyle in pool history (10:10.19) and also the fourth-best mark in the 200 individual medley (2:04.15). Fellow freshman Morganne McKennan had the ninth-fastest time in pool history in the 100 breaststroke (1:04.82). In addition, the foursome of Alma Thormalm, Megan Gianotti, Peyton Wilson and Cailey Steffens swam the 10th-fastest 400 freestyle relay ever at the Aquaplex (3:28.10).

ATHLETES OF THE WEEK
Junior Alexandra Caplan was named the Mountain West Diver of the Week on Nov. 15 for her performance at the USC Diving Invitational (Nov. 11-13). At that meet Caplan placed third on both the 1-meter and 3-meter boards and finished sixth on the platform. Her scores on each board were NCAA Zone qualifying marks allowing her a chance to qualify for the NCAA Championships in March. Freshman McKenna Meyer was selected the Mountain West Swimmer of the Week on Oct. 18 for her effort in the double dual meet wins over Vanderbilt and UC San Diego on Oct. 14. Meyer won the 1000 free in 10:10.91 and also captured first in the 200 individual medley in 2:04.15. Both of those marks ranks among the top 10 all-time in program history. She also took fourth place in the 200 breaststroke in a time of 2:25.42.
