SAN JOSE, Calif. – The San Diego State volleyball team will be in northern California this evening for a match against Mountain West foe San Jose State scheduled to get underway at 6:00 p.m. (PT) in Spartan Gym.

The Aztecs have an all-time record of 20-8 against San Jose State including a three-set victory on Aztec Court in early October. The Spartans last bested San Diego State in 2014 at home with SDSU winning the last four in a row and six of the last seven encounters between the schools.

San Jose State's record stands at 10-14 overall and 3-9 in league play entering the week. SJSU's top players include Giulia Gavio (3.36 kps, 2.48 dps) and Summer Avery (2.33 kps, 0.27 dps). The Spartans' roster features seven foreign athletes including four from Brazil and one each from Estonia, Iceland and the Czech Republic.

The Aztecs enter the match with a mark of 14-10 overall and 6-5 in conference play. SDSU downed the Spartans in three sets on Aztec Court when the teams met in early October.

With seven contests remaining on its schedule, SDSU needs three victories to finish with its most wins since the 2012 campaign when it finished 23-8. A minimum of three victories would also mean a seventh straight season finishing at .500 or better in conference play.

Sophomore Alexandra Psoma set a career high with 23 kills against Boise State last Saturday (Oct. 29) and also had a personal best 23.5 points in the match. Over SDSU's two contests last week, she averaged 4.63 kills per set while hitting .468.

Senior Danielle Bolden has recorded at least one service ace in 10 of the Aztecs' last 11 matches. Her mark of 0.50 aces per set in conference matches leads the league this week while her overall average of 0.34 aces per set stands sixth in the overall stats.

Following tonight's contest, the Aztecs will move on to Fresno where they will conclude their road trip with a match against Fresno State on Saturday, Nov. 5, at 1:00 p.m. (PT) at FSU's Save Mart Center.
