Storylines
- Third-seeded San Diego State continues its quest for a fifth Mountain West tournament title when it plays host to second-seeded San José State Thursday night in the semifinal round of the 2016 MW Championship.

- The Aztecs are making their eighth straight MW semifinal appearance, which is the most in consecutive seasons among current conference members. SDSU's current streak is the second longest in Mountain West history, trailing Utah's 11 straight semifinal berths.

- San Diego State is in the semifinals as a result of a 2-0 quarterfinal win over Boise State on Tuesday. Victoria Barba scored twice to propel SDSU to victory. The senior has scored six goals in her last five games.

- The win over the sixth-seeded Broncos was the 300th in San Diego State history. The Aztecs, who have been playing women's soccer since 1989, are 300-197-54 all-time.

- Head coach Mike Friesen has 121 career victories and is one shy of matching the school record of 122 set by Chuck Clegg, who coached at San Diego State in 1989 and then from 1994-2003.

- SDSU carries a nine-game Mountain West Championship unbeaten streak into the semifinal round. During the nine games, the Aztecs have posted a 7-0-2 record.

- Barba is playing the best soccer of her career and the numbers do not lie. This season alone, the first-team all-MW selection has equaled the number of goals she had in her previous four seasons combined (7) and produced a career-high 17 points, six more than her previous best of 11 accomplished as a sophomore in 2013.

- With her second shutout of Boise State, Gabby English recorded her seventh clean sheet of the season, which is tied for the eighth-most in school single-season history.

- Aliyah Utush has a career-high-tying six assists, matching her total from a season ago. For her career, the all-MW second-team forward has 14 helpers and needs one more assist to enter the Aztec career top 10.

- SDSU is 9-2-1 all-time vs. the Spartans, but just 0-1-1 in the last two meetings, including this year's 4-0 loss in San Jose. In games played in San Diego, the Aztecs are 6-0-1 vs. SJSU and have outscored it, 17-3.

- The San Diego State-San José State semifinal match-up is a rematch of last season's Mountain West final, which was tied at 1-1 after 110 minutes. The game moved into penalty kicks and the Spartans emerged with the MW trophy after beating the Aztecs, 4-2.

- A win over SJSU would give SDSU its sixth straight year of at least 10 victories. The school record is seven (1993-99).

- Admission to tournament is $10 for adults and $5 for youth and students with a current ID. Group ticket rates are available in advance only by contacting the Aztec Ticket Office at (619) 283-7378 or by visiting Window E at Qualcomm Stadium. Group rates are not available at SDSU Sports Deck on game day.
