SAN DIEGO - The stakes are high this weekend as the San Diego State baseball team concludes fall practice with its annual Red-Black World Series.

That's because members of the losing team will get an earful from the winners for the next couple of months.

The three-game series gets underway this evening (Friday, Nov. 18) with the first game scheduled for a 6:00 p.m. start at Tony Gwynn Stadium. Action continues on Saturday (Nov. 19) with a contest at 6:00 p.m. and will conclude Sunday afternoon at 1:00 p.m.

The teams for the Red-Black series were determined earlier in the week during a draft. On the Black team, pitcher Brett Seeburger will serve as manager while the Red team will be headed up by shortstop Danny Sheehan. The two teams are managed by the senior players, who are responsible for in-game strategy, player substitutions and pitch selection.

The games are free and open to the public.

With fall practice coming to a close, the focus will shift to individual workouts until late January. The team will reconvene at that time to begin spring practice in preparation for the 2017 season.

The Aztecs open the campaign with a three-game series against Pacific at Tony Gwynn Stadium that begins on Friday, February 17, at 6:00 p.m.
