SAN DIEGO - The San Diego State women's tennis head coach Peter Mattera announced the signing of two student-athletes, Nnena Nadozie of Los Angeles, Calif. and Abbie Mulbarger of Woodbridge, Calif., to National Letters of Intent this week. The duo will begin their collegiate careers on Montezuma Mesa in the fall of 2017.

"I am thrilled that we will be adding two tremendous people and players to our Aztec family in 2017," Mattera said, who enters his 24th season this fall as the longest-tenured head coach on the Mesa. "Both Nnena and Abbie have had fantastic junior careers and are additionally wonderful students. They are just the type of people and players that our women's tennis team has been built on. They will be excellent representatives of our university and athletic department, and I am certain that they will maintain our high level of success in the classroom and on the court."
Nadozie currently attends Bishop Montgomery High School in Torrance, Calif., where she has been a four-year varsity member and has been named all-league three times. She also plays at the Ramp Tennis Academy in Carson, Calif.
Mulbarger will call the Aztec Tennis Center home in the fall after spending time playing out of the JMG Tennis Academy in Sacramento while finishing high school through Visions in Education in Carmichael, Calif. Mulbarger owns a No. 20 ranking in California and No. 92 nationally on the Babolat recruiting lists.
The pair will join an Aztec women's tennis program that has seen years of success on the court and in the classroom, boasting 11 conference championships, 74 academic all-MW Conference awards and three Academic All-Americans during Mattera's time as head coach.
