The No. 24/25 Aztecs (9-1, 6-0 MW), who clinched the West Division title and a spot in the title game for the second straight year on Nov. 6, will face the Mountain Division winner. Wyoming (7-3), New Mexico (7-3) and No. 22/23 Boise State (9-1) are each tied atop the Mountain Division with a 5-1 conference record.
Wyoming plays host to SDSU at 1:30 p.m. MT Saturday and travels to New Mexico on Nov. 26. New Mexico travels to Colorado State this Saturday before the home clash vs. Cowboys. Boise State ends its regular season with a home game against UNLV Friday and a road contest at Air Force the following Friday (Nov. 25).
The 2016 Mountain West Football Championship will be played at the site of the divisional champion with the highest College Football Playoff (CFP) Selection Committee ranking. The site determination will be made no later than the Sunday following the final week of regular-season games (Nov. 27), utilizing the latest available CFP poll. If one divisional champion was ranked ahead of the other divisional champion in the CFP poll and wins in the final weekend of the regular season, they will be declared the host. If, in that same scenario, the divisional champion that was the highest-ranked in the CFP poll loses in the final weekend of the regular season, a composite of selected computer rankings following the final week of regular-season games will be used to determine the host.
Ticket information will be announced at a later date.
Off to its best start since 1977, and winners of six consecutive games, 17 straight against conference opponents and 19 of its last 20 overall, San Diego State heads to Laramie, Wyo., to take on the Cowboys at 1:30 p.m. MT (12:30 p.m. MT) Saturday.
