SAN DIEGO - San Diego State has received National Letters of Intent from Jordan Schakel and Adam Seiko, men's basketball head coach Steve Fisher announced on Wednesday, the first day of the early signing period.

Hailing from Torrance, Schakel helped Bishop Montgomery High School to the Del Rey League championship and an appearance in the CIF State Open Division regional final last season as a junior. A versatile wing, Schakel averaged 18.1 points and 7.1 rebounds, and knocked down 81 three-pointers en route to Daily Breeze all-area first-team and all-CIF Southern Section Open Division accolades.

Standing at 6-6, 180 pounds, Schakel signs with the Aztecs as a four-star player by both ESPN and Scout, and the 137th player nationally on the Rivals 150.

"We are proud to announce the addition of Jordan and his family," Fisher said. "We are bringing in the consummate student-athlete. He is above a straight-A student and chose us over Stanford, Cal and USC. Jordan is a very talented and versatile basketball player who will be a great addition academically. We're immensely excited to have him at SDSU."

Seiko, a native of Chatsworth, inks with San Diego State out of Sierra Canyon High School. The 6-4, 195-pound combo guard averaged 9.0 points, 3.2 rebounds and 2.0 assists as junior, while knocking down 50.8 percent of his field-goal attempts (.424 3FG) over his prep career, according to MaxPreps. Seiko helped Sierra Canyon to the CIF Southern Section Open Division finals and the Open Division state regionals.

Seiko will head south to Montezuma Mesa following his senior year at Sierra Canyon as a three-star player by Rivals.

"Adam is a young man who has always wanted to come to San Diego State and there is a great deal that can be said for that," Fisher said. "He is a guard that has improved every facet of his game as we have watched him over three years of high school. He is the leader and most important player on one of the premier teams in the nation at Sierra Canyon. He cares, first and foremost, about winning. In addition to his basketball skills, he is an outstanding student and a wonderful person who will be a great fit for San Diego State."

The Southern California duo joins a San Diego State program that has won a Mountain West-high 10 conference championships, including the last three regular-season titles. The Aztecs have also advanced to the postseason 11 straight years with trips to the NCAA tournament in six of the last seven campaigns.

SDSU opens the 2016-17 season on Friday when it plays host to cross-town foe USD. Game time is set for 8 p.m. PT inside Viejas Arena and the contest will air live on ESPNU and stream on WatchESPN.
