Storylines
- San Diego State completes its regular-season schedule on Friday when New Mexico visits Montezuma Mesa. The Senior Night game is set for 7 p.m. PT at SDSU Sports Deck and will stream live on the Mountain West Network. Admission is free.
- The Aztecs enter their final game looking for a victory in hopes of obtaining one of the top two seeds for next week's Mountain West Championship at SDSU Sports Deck. San Diego State is currently in third place with 21 points and is looking up at UNLV (23 points) and San José State (22). The Spartans are at Fresno State on Thursday, while the Rebels are at Nevada on Friday.
- SDSU, which can finish no lower than third in the MW standings, is coming off a 1-0-1 weekend trip to Colorado State and Wyoming. The Aztecs rallied for a 2-1 victory over the Rams last Friday before playing to a double-overtime scoreless draw vs. the Cowgirls. San Diego State is unbeaten in its last six outings (4-0-2).
- The Aztecs won their game at CSU thanks to a pair of goals that were separated by 2:01 in the second half. The Rams earned their goal in the 37th minute only to have Victoria Barba net the equalizer with the clock reading 65:58. Dani DeRosa provided the eventual game-winner 121 seconds later with the assist going to Aliyah Utush.
- Barba enters the New Mexico game having scored three goals in her last three outings, while DeRosa has a pair of goals in her last four games. Utush, additionally, has five points in her last four games (one goal, three assists).
- Friday's game will mark the final regular-season home game for seven San Diego State seniors. Barba is in her fifth season, while Jen Rupey and Morgan Simpson are four-year Aztecs. Gemma Craine (Monroe College), Meggie Gulczynski (San Diego), Zsuria Phare (Metro State) and Hedda Regefalk (Cal State Bakersfield) are part of the senior class after transferring from their respective schools to SDSU earlier in their careers.
- The Aztecs will look to win their second straight Senior Night game after defeating SJSU last season, 2-1. San Diego State enters Friday's game having won three of its last four Senior Night contests.
- SDSU is looking to complete its second straight undefeated home conference campaign. The Aztecs are 4-0 at home vs. Mountain West foes this season and it comes off of last year's 5-0 performance. Since the start of the 2012 campaign, San Diego State is 22-2 at home in regular-season games vs. league opponents.
- The Aztecs will look to continue their stellar play in the month of October on Friday. In the 10th month of the calendar year, San Diego State is 13-1-2 since the start of 2015 and 49-8-5 since the 2009 campaign.
- SDSU will be in search of the program's 300th victory. The Aztecs, who have been competing in women's soccer at the Division I level since 1989, are 299-196-54 all-time. Head coach Mike Friesen has been at the helm for 120 of those victories and is two wins shy of matching the school record of 122 set by Chuck Clegg. Friesen is already the Mountain West all-time leader in conference victories with 61.
- San Diego State is facing a New Mexico program that it has gone 11-6-7 against in 24 all-time meetings. Since the beginning of the 2011 season, the Aztecs are 4-1-1 against the Lobos.
- SDSU dropped its last home game vs. New Mexico, a 2-1 decision on Senior Night in 2014. In all games played in San Diego, however, San Diego State is 6-2-1 vs. the Lobos.
- After its game vs. New Mexico, San Diego State will begin preparations for the Mountain West Championship, which will be held at SDSU Sports Deck. The quarterfinals are set for Nov. 1, with the semifinals to be contested on Nov. 3. Games on both Nov. 1 and 3 will start at 4 p.m. and 7 p.m. PT. The title game will be at 7 p.m. PT on Nov. 5. All five tournament games will stream live on the Mountain West Network.
- The teams set to compete at the Championship have already been locked in, but seeding, however, has not. Joining the Aztecs will be UNLV, San José State, Utah State, Boise State and Wyoming. Tickets are $10 for adults and $5 for youth and students with a current ID.

The Lobos split two games last week, losing at home to Wyoming, 3-0, and defeating Colorado State in Fort Collins, 1-0... New Mexico has seen three true outcomes over its last three games, tying Boise State at home, 0-0, before last week's results... UNM enters its game at San Diego State with a 4-5-1 record in conference... The Lobos' league wins have come at San José State, at Nevada, vs. Utah State, and at Colorado State... New Mexico has been a better team on the road than in Albuquerque, going 6-4-2 in road/neutral games, including a 5-4-2 mark in true road dates... Claire Lynch leads the Lobos with eight goals and 16 points... Maddie Irwin owns a team-best three assists and five goals for 13 points...
