The Aztecs finished up day three of the ITA Southwest Regional Championships, with duo Kennedy Davis and Paola Diaz falling in the round of 16.
Davis and Diaz faced a tough opponent in Hawaii's Petra Melounova and Cindy Nguyen and could not get past them in an 8-2 decision. Davis and Diaz were the only two left in contention in the doubles bracket, with no Aztecs making it to the round of 16 after yesterday's play.
Several Aztecs participated in the round of consolation matches, where Aztecs Marina Colvee and Olivia Larsson claimed wins in their singles matches. Colvee faced off against Caroleen Fajarji of Fullerton, claiming a 6-2, 6-1 victory, while Larsson pulled out a win against Fullerton's Luxizi Meng, 6-4, 6-0.
Taylor Lederman was unsuccessful in her singles consolation matchup, falling in tough 8-6 decision to CSUN's Mari Udagawa. Berta Acero was also handed a loss by Stephanie Yamada of UCSB, conceding 8-4.
Larsson and Acero also took to the doubles consolation rounds, where they faced Constance Branstine and Vivian Dvali of UC Irvine, losing 8-1.
The ITA Regionals will continue tomorrow at 9 a.m. and go through Monday, Oct. 24, at the Barnes Tennis Center.
