SAN DIEGO - San Diego State women's soccer midfielder Victoria Barba earned Top Drawer Soccer Team of the Week honorable mention recognition for her performance last week in victories over Boise State and Utah State.

A native of Albuquerque, N.M., Barba scored both the Aztecs' goals in a 2-1 win over Utah State. Defensively, Barba, from her central midfield spot helped controlled the pace of SDSU's two foes and as a defensive unit, the Aztecs did not allow a run-of-play goal (USU scored off a corner kick).

The national honor comes two days after Barba was named the Mountain West Defensive Player of the Week. On the same day, Aliyah Utush was named the league's top offensive player for the week.

The two results against teams that were ahead of San Diego State in the MW standings helped propel it to second place. The Aztecs enter this week's action two points behind conference leader UNLV and will take on both Colorado State and Wyoming on the road beginning Friday afternoon.

SDSU, the four-time defending MW regular-season champions, will face the Rams on Friday at 3 p.m. MT before heading to Laramie for a Sunday afternoon date with the Cowgirls (1 p.m. MT). Both games will stream live on the Mountain West Network and GoAztecs.com.
