Storylines
- San Diego State returns home to play host to pair of games that will impact the top of the Mountain West standings as Boise State and Utah State visit Montezuma Mesa. Both contests will stream live on GoAztecs.com and the MW Network.
- The Aztecs enter the week in fourth place in the conference standings with 11 points. Friday night's opponent, Boise State, is tied for second place with 13 points (UNLV), while Sunday afternoon's foe, Utah State, sits in first place with 15 points.
- SDSU is back home after enduring its second four-game road trip with the final two dates at UNLV last Friday and Nevada on Sunday. The Aztecs battled the Rebels for 110 minutes and walked away with a 1-1 draw. As for last Sunday's game vs. the Wolf Pack, San Diego State won the game in double overtime, 2-1, on a goal from Angela Mitchell with three seconds left.
- Looking back at the UNLV game, San Diego State was forced to rally after allowing a goal in the 21st minute. Twenty minutes later and right before halftime, SDSU earned a corner kick, which was played to the top of the box and sent in to Rachel Speros. The freshman tapped it to the corner where Victoria Barba waited and the senior crossed the ball to Darcy Weiser, who headed the ball into the net. From there, the teams played even and the Aztecs earned a point against a team that was in a tie for first place.
- The goal was Weiser's first of her young career as was the assist for Speros. Barba, meanwhile, picked up her third assist of the season, which tied her with Aliyah Utush for the most on the team.
- Moving to Nevada, San Diego State struck first on a 25-yard strike from Hedda Regefalk in the 15th minute. The Aztecs controlled the pace, but the Wolf Pack took advantage of one of its few opportunities and scored on a low-skidding shot from 20 yards out in the 67th minute. The game eventually advanced to a second overtime where Mitchell provided the heroics on a hard-angled 15-yard goal that was well-placed into the far upper left corner.
- Regefalk's goal was her first of the season and fourth point overall, which ranks fourth on the team behind Utush (7), Mitchell (6) and Barba (5). As for Mitchell, she netted her team-best third goal and her Aztec-leading second game-winning strike.
- After playing eight of its first 13 games on the road, San Diego State will close the campaign with three of its final five, not including the conference tournament, at SDSU Sports Deck. The Aztecs are only 3-2 at home this season, with a loss to a UCLA team that is now ranked No. 14 in the latest NSCAA poll and to Texas Tech, which was ranked No. 24/23 at the time, on an own goal.
- San Diego State enters this week's action riding a seven-game regular-season home winning streak vs. league foes and is 20-2 against the same competition since the start of 2012.
- The Aztecs and Boise State have split six meetings, all of which have come since 2011. The Broncos have had success against San Diego State recently, winning the last two meetings, including last year's 2-1 triumph, which was SDSU's only blemish during a 10-1 conference run. Boise State's two-game winning streak vs. the Aztecs follows a three-game winning streak by San Diego State, which has never beaten the Broncos at home.
- The Mountain West leaders, Utah State, head to America's Finest City having never defeated the Aztecs. San Diego State is 4-0-1 all-time vs. the Aggies and are winners of four straight. During its four-game winning streak, SDSU has outscored USU by a combined score of 9-3. The Aztecs, however, are only 1-0-1 vs. Utah State at home.
