SAN DIEGO - The Oct. 1 football game between No. 22 San Diego State and South Alabama in Mobile, Ala., will be played at 7 p.m. CT (5 p.m. PT) on ESPNews, the two schools announced Monday.
Eleven of the Aztecs’ 12 game times have now been released with the only exception being the UNLV home game on Oct. 8. The game time for the SDSU’s first home MW contest will most likely be announced this month.
San Diego State looks for redemption against South Alabama after falling, 34-27, in overtime last season.
The Aztecs are off to a 3-0 start for the first time since 2011 and for just the second time in the last 35 seasons. SDSU, which is coming off its first unbeaten September since the 1981 squad went 2-0, has won 13 consecutive games, outscoring the opposition, 482-189 (37.1-14.5) over the streak. It is the second-longest active win streak in the nation behind the defending national champion Alabama (15) and is the longest in school history since a 21-game streak from 1968-70. Eleven of the 13 San Diego State wins during the streak have come by at least 14 points.
South Alabama is currently 1-2 and welcomes Nicholls at 6 p.m. CT (4 p.m. PT) Saturday. In the opener on Sept. 3, the Jaguars defeated Mississippi State, 21-20, in Starkville, Miss.
The Aztecs have a bye this week.
