KINGSTON, R.I. – The San Diego State volleyball team continues action at the Art Carmichael Invitational being hosted by the University of Rhode Island today with matches vs. Notre Dame and Stony Brook.
The Aztecs will get their day started with a match against The Fighting Irish at URI's Keaney Gymnasium scheduled to get underway at 11:00 a.m. (ET) (8:00 a.m. PT).
After a short break, SDSU will conclude its portion of the tournament with a contest against Stony Brook slated for a 4:00 p.m. (ET) (1:00 p.m. PT) start.
Notre Dame enters the day with a record of 5-2 after a three-set sweep of Stony Brook on Friday. Stony Brook, meanwhile, owns a mark of 2-8 after dropping matches to both the Fighting Irish and Rhode Island on Friday.
SDSU opened tourney play Friday evening and defeated Rhode Island in five sets as it overcame a 2-1 deficit after the opening three sets.
The Aztecs were led by sophomore outside hitter Alexandra Psoma, who turned in career highs with 19 kills and a .581 hitting percentage. She also contributed a pair of blocks, five digs and a service ace.
Freshman Hannah Turnlund had a personal-best 14 kills while sophomore middle blocker Deja Harris added 13 kills and six blocks in the winning effort.
Following this weekend's tournament in Rhode Island, San Diego state will return home for three matches next weekend beginning with a contest against UC Santa Barbara on Friday, Sept, 16, at 7:00 p.m. (PT) on Aztec Court.
