SAN DIEGO, Calif. - The San Diego State volleyball team returns home this evening as it hosts UC Irvine at 6:00 p.m. on. Aztec Court.
The Anteaters enter tonight's contest with a record of 2-4 and look to break SDSU's three-match wining streak in the series between the teams. UCI is led by outside hitter Victoria Dennis, who is averaging 3.86 kills and 1.05 digs per set.
The Aztecs evened their season record at 3-3 by winning two of their three matches at last weekend's Oregon Classic. Outside hitter Alexis Cage and middle blocker Deja Harris were named to the all-tournament team at the conclusion of play in Eugene on Saturday.
Sophomore Alexandra Psoma continues to lead SDSU in kills with an average of 2.77 per set after averaging 3.20 per set over the Aztecs three matches last weekend.
During the Oregon Classic, Deja Harris turned in her season highs with 12 kills and a .611 hitting percentage in the win over UC Davis last Friday. Her .354 hitting percentage and 1.14 blocks per set average this season both rank eighth in the Mountain West this week.
Alexis Cage set a career high with 20 digs in the win over Murray State on Saturday. She is averaging 1.95 digs and 1.91 kills per set in 2016.
Following tonight's contest vs. UCI, the Aztecs will head east to play in this weekend's Art Carmichael Invitational being hosted by the University of Rhode Island. In addition to the host school, SDSU will alsc face Notre Dame and Stony Brook.
