EUGENE, Ore. - The San Diego State volleyball team will open play at the 2016 Oregon Classic this afternoon with a match against UC Davis scheduled to get underway at 1:00 p.m. (PT). The actual start time is pending the length of the Oregon-Murray State contest that started at 11:00 a.m.

Action continues this evening when the Aztecs will square off against tournament host Oregon in a match slated to begin at 8:00 p.m. (PT).

SDSU enters the weekend with a record of 1-2 after defeating Marist and dropping matches to Michigan State and Denver at last weekend's season-opening Aztec Invitational in San Diego.

Despite losing two of those three matches, SDSU led their opponents in five categories last weekend including kills per set (12.17-11.33), hitting percentage (.220-.209), assists per set (11.08-10.67), digs per set (12.42-11.17) and blocks per set (2.12-2.08).

Sophomore Alexandra Psoma led the Aztecs in kills with an average of 2.42 per set followed by Emma Fuzie at 2.17 per set.

Middle blocker Deja Harris' .450 hitting mark and 1.08 blocks per set average over the three matches both rank among the top 10 in the Mountain West this week.

Following today's contests, San Diego State will wrap up play at the Oregon Classic on Saturday (Sept. 3) with a match against Murray State at 3:30 p.m. (PT).
