SAN DIEGO, Calif. -- The San Diego State volleyball team will continue play at the 2016 Aztec Invitational this morning with a contest against Michigan State set to get underway at 10:30 a.m. on Aztec Court. SDSU will wrap up the tourney with a match vs. Denver this evening at 7:00 p.m.

The Aztecs and Spartans were both victorious in their opening matches of the Invitational on Friday with Michigan State defeating Denver in three sets and San Diego State downing Marist by the same count.

Last night, it was sophomore Alexandra Psoma who paced the Aztecs with 11 kills as she was the lone player to end the match in double figures in that category.

Freshman Ashlynn Dunbar had an excellent match in her collegiate debut as she collected nine kills, four blocks. Three service aces and six dogs.

While splitting time at the setter position, senior Hailey Jones and sophomore transfer Indigo Thompson ended the evening with almost identical statistics. Jones and Thompson notched 19 and 17 kills respectively while each had seven digs in the match.

Following this weekend's action in San Diego, the Aztecs will prepare to travel to Eugene, Ore., to play in the Oregon Classic (Sept. 2-3) hosted by the University of Oregon, a tourney whose field also includes UC Davis and Murray State
