SAN DIEGO -

2016 SDSU Women's Soccer Schedule

San Diego State women's soccer head coach Mike Friesen revealed his team's 2016 schedule on Friday. The Aztecs' 18-game schedule features eight home games, including the season opener vs. UCLA, and does not include the return of the Mountain West Championship to SDSU Sports Deck in early November.

The Aztecs will spend the good portion of their time on the road during the first few weeks of season starting with an exhibition at San Francisco (Aug. 12). Save for the opener vs. UCLA at home (Aug. 19), San Diego State will play four straight away from Montezuma Mesa after the Bruins visit. In succession, SDSU will play at Long Beach State (Aug. 29), San Diego (Sept. 2), Penn State (Sept. 9) and Cornell (Sept. 11).

After playing four on the road, San Diego State will play four consecutive games at home when Weber State (Sept. 15), Texas Tech (Sept. 18) and Mountain West foes Air Force (Sept. 23) and Colorado College (Sept. 25) step foot onto SDSU Sports Deck.

The four-away, four-home trend continues after the four-game homestand as the Aztecs will play four road games at Pacific Time Zone schools. The schedule takes SDSU to Fresno State (Sept. 30), San José State (Oct. 2), UNLV (Oct. 7) and Nevada (Oct. 9) on back-to-back weekends before returning to play three of its final five at home.

Boise State and Utah State will come to America's Finest City on Oct. 14 and 16, respectively, with Aztecs heading back on the road the following weekend (at Colorado State on Oct. 21, at Wyoming on Oct. 23). The regular season will end on Oct. 28, when New Mexico visits on Senior Night.

Then for the third straight season and fourth time in five years the Mountain West Championship will be contested atop SDSU Sports Deck. The three-day tournament over the course of five days will take place on Nov. 1, 3 and 5.

San Diego State will look to claim its fifth straight MW regular-season title in 2016. The Aztecs are set to return eight starters off a 2015 squad that went 15-4-1 overall and 10-1 in the Mountain West.
