2016 SDSU FOOTBALL PRESEASON ACCOLADES

San Diego State senior tight end Daniel Brunskill is on the 2016 Wuerffel Trophy Watch List. The trophy, which is known as "College Football's Premier Award for Community Service," is presented annually by the All Sports Association in Fort Walton Beach, Florida.

The Wuerffel Trophy is named after the 1996 Heisman Trophy winning quarterback Danny Wuerffel, who played collegiately at Florida. The trophy is awarded to the FBS player that best combines exemplary community service with athletic and academic achievement.

Brunskill, who is the first Aztec to appear on the Wuerffel Trophy Watch List, enters his final season on Montezuma Mesa after being named a Pro Football Focus All-American and Mountain West honorable mention choice in 2015. As a junior, Brunskill helped the Aztecs win the MW championship after producing 112 yards and two touchdowns on 10 receptions, while playing in all 14 games. The Valley Center, California native is also a two-time all-Mountain West academic team member.

The Aztecs are coming off an 11-3 season where they tied a school record for the most wins in a single year, finished with a 10-game winning streak (second-longest active FBS streak heading into 2016), won the MW title (20th conference title in program history) and beat Cincinnati, 42-7, in the Hawai'i Bowl.

SDSU season tickets are now available and can be purchased through GoAztecs.com, over the phone by calling (619) 283-7378, or by visiting Qualcomm Stadium's Window E between 9 a.m. PT and 5 p.m. PT. Fans who purchase season tickets will receive a free Donnel Pumphrey bobblehead.
