CORAL SPRINGS, Fla. – San Diego State's Sirene Blair (South Jordan, Utah) has been named to the Women's Golf Coaches Association (WGCA) All-American Scholar Team for her performance in the classroom during the 2015-16 academic year.

The Aztec rising senior was among 828 collegiate golfers from Division I, II and III schools to earn the academic honor from the WGCA, which maintains some of the most stringent criteria in all of intercollegiate athletics for selection to the prestigious group. In order to be considered for the WGCA All-American Scholar Team, candidates are required to retain a cumulative GPA of 3.50 or higher.

With her award, Blair becomes the second straight SDSU women's golfer to receive WGCA All-American Scholar recognition after Mila Chaves landed a spot on the team a year ago.

An interdisciplinary studies major, Blair garnered her third straight all-Mountain West accolade this past season after finishing second on the team with a 74.11 stroke average, which ranked 10th in the conference. She completed nine rounds at or below par, including three in the 60s, and logged three top-five placements.

Blair was the team's top competitor at the Las Vegas Collegiate Showdown last October where she established a program record for lowest 54-hole score with an 11-under-par 205 en route to a fifth-place individual effort. The Utah native also helped the Aztecs to the team title with a fourth-place result at the Golfweek Conference Challenge in September and was the squad's No. 1 golfer at the MW Championship, where she finished a solo fifth, leading the Scarlet and Black to a runner-up standing.

San Diego State completed another successful season in 2015-16, securing its sixth NCAA regional appearance in the last seven years, before finishing with a No. 27 national ranking by Golfstat.
