USTFCCCA TOP 25

The San Diego State track and field team is ranked 23rd in the final USTFCCCA poll heading into the NCAA Outdoor Championships in Eugene, Ore., from June 8-11. It is the first time that the Aztecs have been ranked all season.

SDSU, which was 92nd in the preseason poll, will look to record its fourth top-25 team finish at the NCAA Championship meet in five years.

The National Team Computer Rankings are compiled by a mathematical formula based on national descending order lists. The purpose and methodology of the rankings is to create an index that showcases the teams that have the best potential of achieving the top spots in the national team race. Rankings points do not equate with NCAA Championships team points.

San Diego State is coming off a solid weekend at the NCAA West Prelims where it qualified six athletes for Eugene, the program's most since 2004 (also six athletes). The six qualifiers - sophomore Ashley Henderson (St. Louis) in the 100, 200 and 4x100, junior Micha Auzenne (East Palo Alto, Calif.) in the 100 hurdles and 4x100, sophomore Simone Glenn (Atlanta) and junior Starlynn Singleton (Murrieta, Calif.) in the 4x100, and junior Rachel Alesi (El Cajon, Calif./Christian HS) and senior Alexa Evans (San Diego/West Hills HS) in the discus throw.
