SAN DIEGO - San Diego State lacrosse matched a program record with nine student-athletes named to the Mountain Pacific Sports Federation (MPSF) All-Academic Team, the conference office announced today.

Seniors Anna Cholewczynski and Nicole Lescano, redshirt junior Lauren Gierke, juniors Sarah Dorl, Vickie Porter, Katrina Reeves and Alex Watson, and sophomores Cierra Kocik and Mackenzie Lech were honored by the MPSF for being at least a sophomore academically, attaining a 3.0 grade point average or higher, competing in at least half of SDSU's games this season and completing a full year at SDSU prior to the 2016 season.

One of three team captains for the 2016 campaign, Cholewczynski is the first Aztec in program history to earn her third All-Academic honor. The chemistry major from Rockville, Md. has a team-best 3.69 GPA, posting career-high marks this season with 10 ground balls, two draw controls and nine caused turnovers.

Lescano captured All-Academic honors for the second consecutive season with a 3.31 GPA as a kinesiology major concentrating in pre-physical therapy. A vital mark-up defender for the Scarlet and Black, the Fort Lauderdale, Fla. major started the first 12 contests of the season before suffering an injury.

Gierke finished off her career in the Scarlet and Black with her first All-Academic selection. The Winter Park, Fla. native has a 3.14 GPA, majoring in communication. Starting every contest this season, she posted career-best marks in every statistical category.

Picking up her first academic award, Dorl has a 3.30 GPA as a kinesiology major. The junior from Baltimore played in a career-best nine games this year, scoring six goals, also the most of her career.

Reeves earned her second straight All-Academic honor, posting a 3.55 GPA as a child and family development major. The Granite Bay, Calif. native appeared in the cage in all but one game this season, producing an 11.35 goals against average and a .378 save percentage in 443:59 minutes logged.

Porter's All-Academic nod is also the second of her career. The junior maintains a 3.15 GPA, majoring in kinesiology with a concentration in pre-physical therapy. Porter, a native of Poway, Calif., finished second on the team with 16 goals and 19 draw controls.

Capturing her first career academic honor, Watson maintains a 3.00 GPA as a business administration major concentrating in marketing. The native of Davidsonville, Md. finished the season ranked fifth on the Aztecs with 15 points on 12 goals and three assists.

Kocik secured her first All-Academic nod after yielding a 3.06 GPA as a biology major. Hailing from Livermore, Calif., Kocik scooped up three ground balls and caused a pair of turnovers in 10 games, the most appearances of her career.

Lech was named an All-Academic honoree after earning a 3.50 GPA majoring in business administration with a concentration in marketing. The Milton, Ga. native played in 13 games, starting the final three contests of the season. She scored three goals, added an assist and scooped up seven ground balls.

San Diego State recorded a 4-11 mark in 2016, going 3-6 in conference play. The Aztecs executed their most difficult schedule to date, facing four opponents ranked among the top 12 in the nation (No. 2/2 North Carolina, No. 11/10 Stony Brook, No. 7/8 USC, No. 12/8 Stanford), and allowed the second fewest goals in program history (190).
