COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. - San Diego State softball senior Samantha Camello (Temecula, Calif.) has been named a first-team all-Mountain West selection, the league announced today. Junior Sydnee Cable (Huntington Beach, Calif.) and sophomore Alex Formby (Orange, Calif.) also garnered second-team all-league accolades.

In conference play, Camello batted a team-high .372 with two home runs, 11 RBIs, 17 runs, seven doubles, six walks and three stolen bases, posting a .523 slugging percentage and a .419 on-base percentage. In league games only, the shortstop ranked in a tie for second in fielding assists (65), a tie for fourth in hits (32) and a tie for 10th in doubles (7).

Camello, who earlier this month was named to the 2016 CoSIDA Academic All-District 8 First Team, hit .359 overall with 13 doubles, two triples, two homers, 25 RBIs, 32 runs, 12 walks, five stolen bases, a .486 slugging percentage and a .400 on-base percentage. She led SDSU in at-bats (181), runs (32), hits (65), doubles (13) and triples (2), with the 65 hits ranking as the ninth most in San Diego State single-season history. It was her first career all-conference selection.

Cable, meanwhile, picked up her first career all-MW accolade after batting .366 with 11 RBIs, 11 runs, four doubles, nine walks, recording a .451 slugging percentage and a .447 on-base mark in league action.

Overall, Cable hit .303 with 20 RBIs, 22 runs, five doubles, a triple, 11 walks and six times hit by a pitch, finishing with a .356 slugging percentage and a 377 on-base percentage. The first baseman/designated player batted .378 over her final 32 games of the year with 17 RBIs and 15 runs, while posting a .456 slugging percentage and a .458 on-base mark.

Formby joined Cable on the second team after going 5-6 with a save an a 3.50 ERA in 70 innings, striking out 50 against 28 walks. The right-hander appeared in 20 games, starting nine times, and limited the opposition to a .295 average. Her 3.50 ERA in MW games was tied for the best in the conference, and she was also first in saves (3), tied for first in appearances (20), fourth in strikeouts (50) and sixth in innings pitched (70.0).

Formby, who was named the MW Pitcher of the Week on May 3, was 11-10 with a save and a 3.66 ERA over 116 2/3 innings overall this year after transferring from Virginia in the summer. She pitched in 37 games with 15 starts, striking out 83 against 57 walks, and keeping her opponents to a .281 average. Among the league leaders, the right-hander is second in saves (5) and appearances (37), tied for fifth in wins (11), sixth in ERA (3.66), and seventh in opposing batting average (.281) and strikeouts (83). Formby's five overall saves, meanwhile, rank in a tie for fourth in Aztec single-season history.

SDSU finished 2016 with a 30-22 record, tying for third in league play with a 12-12 mark, but missing the NCAA tournament for the first time since 2007. It marked the 11th consecutive season that San Diego State posted 30 wins.
