SAN DIEGO -

SDSU 6, BOISE STATE 3 | VIDEO REPLAY

Senior Samantha Camello (Temecula, Calif.) went 4-for-4 with a two-run homer to lead San Diego State to a 6-3 victory over Boise State Saturday afternoon at SDSU Softball Stadium on Senior Day. The Aztecs finished their season at 30-22, including a 12-12 mark in Mountain West play.

Camello singled in the first inning, homered in the second, singled in the fifth and singled in the sixth to close out her career. The 4-for-4 game was just five games after she went 6-for-6 at New Mexico en route to setting a school and MW record with six hits. She also scored two runs today.

Junior Jaylene Ignacio (Oceanside, Calif./El Camino HS) added two hits and two RBIs, including a solo home run, while senior Leia Ruiz (Chino, Calif.) tripled, walked and scored two runs in her final game.

Junior Erica Romero (Chino, Calif.) picked up the win after allowing three runs on five hits over six innings, while striking out four. The right-hander finished 2016 with a 15-9 record. Sophomore Alex Formby (Orange, Calif.) tossed a scoreless seventh inning with a strikeout to record her fifth save of the year.

SDSU wasted no time, striking with two runs in the bottom of the first inning. Camello led off with an infield single and stole second base. Ruiz attempted to sacrifice Camello to third, but the Bronco (14-38, 6-18 MW) pitcher Nicole Wilson botched the throw to first, which allowed Camello to score easily. Ruiz later scored on a single up the middle by Ignacio. Junior Frankie Orlando (Roseville, Calif.) followed with a double and departing junior Sam Vlot (Chowchilla, Calif.) walked to load the bases for senior Stefania Aradillas (Mexico City). Aradillas, however, grounded into a fielder's choice to the BSU shortstop to end the inning.

Boise State halved the San Diego State lead in the top of the second with a solo home run by Teauna Hughes.

The Aztecs went back to work in the bottom half of the inning as sophomore Zaria Meshack (Vallejo, Calif.) drew a leadoff walk and Camello followed with a homer to left field. Ruiz then tripled down the right-field line to chase Wilson from the game. Shawna Burke replaced Wilson in the circle and struck out junior Sydnee Cable (Huntington Beach, Calif.) before allowing a sacrifice fly by freshman Molly Sturdivant (Santa Ana, Calif.) to score Ruiz. Ignacio then took a 3-1 pitch over the right-center field wall to put SDSU up, 6-1, after two innings.

Izzy Serrano brought the Broncos closer in the sixth with a two-run home run, but the San Diego State pitchers shut down the BSU offense the rest of the way in the win.
