CLOVIS, Calif. - The San Diego State track and field team is in second place after the third day of the Mountain West Championships at Veterans Memorial Stadium in Clovis, Calif. The Aztecs had two runner-up finishes on Friday and qualified 14 for Saturday's final heats.

With 14 of the 21 events still left to be competed tomorrow, SDSU is in second place with 42 points, 12 ahead of third-place New Mexico and Utah State, and 26 ahead of fifth-place Boise State. Colorado State leads the meet with 89 points.

Marissa Berry led a group of four pole vaulters who scored for San Diego State, taking second with a height of 13 feet, 2 ½ inches (4.03m). Bonnie Draxler, a two-time MW indoor champion in the event, was third with the same mark, while Karen Snapper (12-08.25 (3.87m)) and Sara Curran (12-04.50 (3.77m) came in fifth and sixth, respectively.

Rachel Alesi added a runner-up showing in the shot put with a heave of 49-09.25 (15.17m), the fifth-best mark in school history.

Victoria Dickerson added a sixth-place finish in the hammer throw with a toss of 181-03 (55.26m), good enough for the fifth-best throw in program history.
