SAN DIEGO, Calif. - Nevada scored multiple runs in the second through fourth innings and San Diego State was unable complete a comeback as the Wolf Pack downed the Aztecs, 13-9, Sunday afternoon at Tony Gwynn Stadium.

The victory completed a season sweep by the visitors, who won three games against SDSU in Reno in early April and captured all three contests this weekend in San Diego.

Nevada (23-20; 13-8 Mountain West) opened the scoring in the top of the second with a pair of runs against Aztec starter Cody Thompson courtesy of a two-run homer by third baseman Bryce Greager.

The Aztecs (12-30; 5-14 MW) responded with a run in the bottom of the frame to cut the deficit to 2-1. Tyler Adkison led off with a walk and was able to go to third when a pickoff attempt by Wolf Pack hurler Trenton Brooks sailed down the right field line. Adkison then scored on a sacrifice fly by Spencer Thornton.

Nevada's one-run advantage soon turned into a 13-1 lead after it scored three in both the second and third innings and added five more in the fifth. A total of five Aztec errors over those three frames helped the Wolf Pack, who also used 13 hits, two walks and a hit batter in the three innings to score 11 times against a pair of Aztec hurlers.

Thompson would depart the game after 3.1 innings having allowed 7 runs (six earned) on eight hits with no walks and a pair of strikeouts. Nevada's other six runs were charged to freshman Chris Collins, who tossed 1.2 innings surrendering those runs (one earned) on seven hits with two walks and two strikeouts. Thompson would take the loss to all to 2-7 on the year.

After recording just two hits over the opening five frames, the Aztecs struck for a pair of runs in their half of the sixth. A single and walk to Justin Wylie and Alan Trejo respectively were followed by an RBI single by Jordan Verdon and sacrifice fly by Adkison.

SDSU added one more in the seventh on consecutive singles by CJ Saylor, Denz'l Chapman and Wylie.

In their final at bat, the Aztecs put five runs on the board to make the final score 13-9. A two-run double by Dean Nevarez, RBI double by Verdon, RBI single by Trejo and a sacrifice fly by Chase Calabuig brought those runs home, but the SDSU rally fell short.

Five SDSU players ended the afternoon with two hits apiece including center fielder Denz'l Chapman, who was making his first start of the season. Verdon and Nevarez had multiple-RBI efforts with two apiece and seven different Aztecs drove in at least one run.

Up next for San Diego State is a game against Cal State Fullerton on Tuesday, May 3, at 6:00 p.m.at Tony Gwynn stadium.
