The San Diego State track and field team will send five athletes to the Oxy Invitational this weekend at Bill Henry Track in Los Angeles. The five athletes - Je'Neal Ainsworth, Kassidy Ellis, Cali King, Lily Mayko and Rachel Roesgen - will all compete on Saturday, the only day of the meet.
King, Mayko and Roesgen will each run the 1,500 meters, while Ellis is entered in both the high jump and long jump. Ainsworth, meanwhile, is set for the triple jump.
The long jump kicks things off for the Aztecs at 11 a.m. PT, followed by the high jump at 3 p.m. PT. The 1,500, meanwhile, starts at 3:05 p.m. PT, ending with the triple jump at 4:30 p.m. PT.
Bonnie Draxler Named MW Field Athlete of the Week
San Diego State's Bonnie Draxler has been named the MW Outdoor Track & Field Women's Field Athlete of the Week, the league announced on Tuesday. It is Draxler's third weekly accolade this season (also Jan. 19 during the indoor campaign and March 29) and fourth of her career (Jan. 20, 2015).
Draxler won the pole vault Sunday at the Payton Jordan Invitational, beating out 17 other entrants with a mark of 14 feet, ¾ inches (4.29m). The sophomore set a collegiate PR (personal record) twice on the day, first clearing 13-10.00 (4.22m) and finally 14-00.75 (4.29m). The 14-00.75 is the third-best mark by an Aztec all-time, eighth in the NCAA West Region and the 18th best in the nation this year.
SDSU begins its championship season at the Mountain West Outdoor Track and Field Championships in Fresno, Calif., from May 11-14.
