SAN DIEGO, Calif. - Nevada scored five times over the middle three innings and held San Diego State to one hit in the game as the Wolf Pack shut out the Aztecs, 5-0, Saturday afternoon at Tony Gwynn Stadium.

SDSU (12-29; 5-13 Mountain West) had six total base runners in the contest that came on a single by David Hensley in the second inning, two walks, two hit batters and two errors. The Aztecs had more than one man on base in any inning with only of those runners advancing pat first base.

After keeping the Wolf Pack (22-20; 12-8 MW) in check over the opening three frames, Purpura ran into trouble in the fourth as the visitors scored three times with the help of a two-out error by the Aztec hurler.

Justin Bridgman led off with a single, and after a fly out advanced to third out a grounder to second base. Trenton Brooks then delivered an RBI single to make it a 1-0 game in favor of the Wolf Pack. But the inning was far from over.

A single and a walk loaded three bases for Nevada with two out. Kaleb Foster's hard grounder to the left of first base was stopped by SDSU's Jordan Verdon on a diving play. Verdon recovered and tossed to first where Purpura was covering, only for the Aztec pitcher to drop the throw and allow two runs to score.

The Wolf Pack added to its lead two innings later on a single and a pair of doubles to go up 5-0. Purpura's day would end during that sixth inning rally as he would depart after 5.1 innings having allowed four runs (two earned) on five hits with a walk and three strikeouts. With the loss his season record dropped to 1-2.

Nevada's Trevor Charpie (4-3) would go on to toss a complete game, his second against SDSU third season. In addition to the lone hit, he surrendered two walks while recording just one strikeout.

The Wolf Pack and Aztecs will conclude their weekend series on Sunday, May 1, with a contest slated to begin at 1:00 p.m. (PT) at Tony Gwynn Stadium.
