The San Diego State women's tennis team saw another close conference match slip away by one point on Sunday. SDSU dropped a 4-3 decision to San Jose State at Aztec Tennis Center. For the second time this weekend, the Aztecs saw their singles rally fall short and result in a close loss.
The Spartans took an early lead by claiming the doubles point. Sybille Gauvain and Marie Klocker topped Jana Buth and Isabelle Hoorn in first doubles, 6-3. Marine Dans and Miyo Kobayashi topped Tami Nguyen and Taylor Lederman to take the point in the second spot, 7-5.
In singles play, Klocker defeated Nguyen to give SJSU its second point, 6-4, 6-2. On court No. 6, Lederman put the Aztecs on the board as she downed Justine Deleval, 6-2, 6-1. In the fourth spot, Kennedy Davis evened the score at two-all as she knocked off Dans, 6-2, 7-5. In the first position, Gauvain defeated Buth, 6-4, 6-1. On court No. 5, Kobayashi secured the victory for San Jose State as she got past Hoorn, 7-5, 6-1. In the third spot, Paola Diaz de Regules gave the Aztecs their final point as she battled and emerged on top over Gaelle Rey, 6-2, 3-6, 10-7.
San Diego State will get back on the courts on April 7 against USF. First serve at Aztec Tennis Center is set for 2 p.m.
