NAPA, Calif. -- The 17th-ranked San Diego State women's golf team fired a combined 19-over par 307 on Sunday during the opening round of the Silverado Showdown at the Silverado Resort and Spa. With their total, the Aztecs find themselves in 15th place, six shots out of the top 10 heading into Monday's second round at the par-72, 6,206-yard North Course.

On a day when just eight golfers in the field of 93 players completed the opening round below par, SDSU was paced by senior Emma Henrikson (Malmo, Sweden) and sophomore Haleigh Krause (Eugene, Ore.), who finished the day in a tie for 36th after each carded a 75.

Henrikson sank three straight birdies on holes 14-16, but six uncharacteristic bogeys proved too much to overcome. Krause, meanwhile, led the squad with 13 pars, but managed just one birdie against four bogeys.

In addition, Georgia Lacey (Del Mar, Calif.) finds herself one stroke behind Henrikson and Krause in a tie for 46th on the heels of an opening-round 76. After notching five bogeys for her round, the Aztec sophomore drained a birdie on the par-4, 336-yard No. 17, followed by a par-5 on the 18th.

SDSU's two remaining starters, junior Sirene Blair (South Jordan, Utah) and sophomore Mila Chaves (Asuncion, Paraguay) both struggled on Sunday, tying for the 83rd position after each logged an 81.

Blair found birdies elusive in her round, suffering six bogeys and a triple on the par-5 No.5. Chaves, meanwhile, finished strong with seven pars and a birdie on the back nine, but three bogeys and three doubles before the turn effectively sandbagged her day.

Stanford (-2) was the lone school to complete the first 18 holes collectively below par, while Colorado (+2) occupies the second spot in the team standings, followed by LSU (+5) and Oregon (+5). The Ducks boast the two top individuals after round one, with Cathleen Santoso firing a 67 to grab a one-shot lead over fellow teammate Kelsey Ulep, who is competing unattached.

The Silverado Showdown resumes on Monday when San Diego State tees off alongside Minnesota and San José State for the second round, starting at 8:30 a.m. PT on hole No. 10.
