WHAT'S ON TAP THIS WEEKEND IN AZTEC BASEBALL
After its 4-2 loss at Long Beach State on Tuesday, San Diego State returns home to face Mountain West foe Nevada in a series that will include the completion of a suspended game from earlier this season. On Friday, April 29, the Aztecs and Wolf Pack will conclude the game that was halted in Reno due to SDSU's travel schedule with the contest tied at 6-6 heading into the bottom of the 10th inning. That game will resume at 5:00 p.m. That teams will then play the regularly scheduled contest which is tentatively slated to begin at 6:00 p.m. Friday night depending on the length of the suspended game. The Aztecs and Wolf Pack will also hook up for games on Saturday (April 29) and Sunday (May 1) at 2:00 p.m. and 1:00 p.m. (PT) respectively.

ON THE AIR
The broadcast of Friday's games vs. Nevada is TBA at this time. Saturday's and Sundays contests vs. the Wolf Pack will have live video streaming on the Mountain Digital Network and will also be carried on AM 1700 radio in San Diego. SERIES RECORD
San Diego State's record against Nevada stands at 13-17 since the teams first met during the 1986 season. Nevada won two games in Reno in early April with a third game suspended and expected to be completed this weekend. Last season the Wolf Pack swept a three-game series at Tony Gwynn Stadium in mid-April in the only meetings between the teams during the regular season. At the 2016 Mountain West Tournament in Reno, the Aztecs defeated Nevada, 9-7, in an elimination game. The Aztecs are 6-7 at home, 3-9 away and 4-1 on neutral fields in previous contests against Nevada.

LOPTIEN GETS FIRST SAVE
Sophomore right-hander Tyler Loptien recorded his first career save as an Aztec when he got the final out in the Aztecs' 10-9 win at New Mexico last Sunday (April 24). He has made five appearances this season covering 4.1 innings during which he has allowed no runs on three hits with three walks and four strikeouts. Opponents are hitting just .188 against him.

THORNTON STAYS HOT
Senior left fielder Spencer Thornton is hitting .364 (20-for-55) over SDSU's last 15 games with three doubles, a triple, three home runs, five RBI and 12 runs scored. He has gone 2-for-4 in each of SDSU's last four contests. He hit his fifth home run, a solo shot in the eighth inning, at New Mexico on Saturday (April 23). He is now leads the team in home runs with five, one more than teammate Tyler Adkison.

ADKISON HITS AWAY
Sophomore Tyler Adkison has hit in five straight games and seven of SDSU's last eight contests. He had doubled in three consecutive contests prior to Sunday's (April 24) finale at New Mexico. He had a personal season-best nine-game hitting streak come to an end in the game at USD on April 12. During that streak he went 12-for-35 (.343) with three doubles, a triple, home run, 11 RBI and four runs scored.

TREJO KEEPS HITTING
Shortstop Alan Trejo is hitting .370 (17-for-46) over SDSU's last 11 contests with a double, triple, six RBI and six runs scored. He hit his second homer of the season in the win over New Mexico on Sunday (April 24). Trejo went 5-for-11 with a triple during the previous weekend's three-game series at No.10 Texas Tech. He had a team season-high 15-game hitting streak end on March 25 vs. New Mexico.

NEVAREZ IN A PINCH
Freshman Dean Nevarez made his fifth pinch hitting appearance of the year at New Mexico last Saturday (April 23). He responded with a two-run double. He has gone 2-for-4 as a pinch hitter this season with a walk. Nevarez is the only Aztec pinch hitter with more than one hit.

VERDON HEATS UP
Freshman Jordan Verdon had a pair of hits and drove in three runs in the win at New Mexico on Sunday (April 24). His RBI single in the ninth drove in SDSU's final important run in what ended up as a 10-9 win. He connected for his second home run of the season at USD on April 19, a three-run shot that extended SDSU's two-run lead to five runs in the eighth inning.

CONFERENCE HITTING
Seven of SDSU's regular starters are hitting above the .300 mark in Mountain West Conference games. That list includes Justin Wylie (.365), Chase Calabuig (.362), Alan Trejo (.350), Jordan Verdon (.327), Spencer Thornton (.322), Andrew Brown (.313) and Tyler Adkison (.303). As a team the Aztecs are hitting .304 in league games.

STREAKS
SDSU's current longest hitting streak is five games by Tyler Adkison. The team's longest steak this season is 15 games by Alan Trejo. Spencer Thornton has reached base safely (via hit, walk or hit by pitch) in each of the last 22 games, the longest such streak by an Aztec this season. Trejo leads the Aztecs with 18 multiple-hit contests while Adkison leads with six multiple-RBI games.

AZTEC NOTES
Chase Calabuig was 5-for-9 in the final two games at New Mexico on Saturday and Sunday (April 23-24) with a double, three RBI and a run scored ... Jordan Verdon is one of six Aztecs to have recorded a double, triple and home run this season. The others include Alan Trejo, Tyler Adkison, Andrew Brown, Dean Nevarez and Chase Calabuig ... Andrew Brown went 3-for-9 with two runs scored in the final two contests at New Mexico last weekend (April 23-24) ... Senior outfielder Spencer Thornton had his first four-hit game of the season in the contest at Nevada on April 1. Only Thornton and Alan Trejo have recorded four-hit efforts for the Aztecs in 2016 ... Shortstop Alan Trejo is the only player to have started all 38 games this season at the same position ... Only one other Aztec has started all 38 games, but not at the same position each time: Justin Wylie (2B-3B-DH) ... Niko Navarro (1-for-3), Dean Nevarez (2-for-4) and Jordan Verdon (1-for-2) are the only three Aztecs to have recorded a hit as a pinch hitter. Aztec pinch hitters are 4-for-22 on the year.
